Melibee Global - a new adventure

Posted on Jan 14th, 2007 by Missy : melibee Missy
After much thought (probably a bit too much!) I have finally formalized my international consulting practice - quite a leap of faith for a new year. But life is too short, and one never knows what one is truly capable of until you attempt your dreams - so what better time than the present.

The website is www.melibeeglobal.com.  Melissa is my real name, hence the MELI. Melissa in Greek means BEE. Global is my passion. And when life is good, I'm buzzing around the world like a busy little bee - so it is certainly a fitting name for me!

My primary focus at this point is international education consulting. Do you know someone who is anxious to study abroad but has no idea where to begin. Do you know someone who needs travel advice but can't make heads or tails of the multitude of travel blogs and such? Or is there an organization out there that needs help determining how to internationalize in scope? That's what Melibeeglobal can help with.  My other interests - getting people together for fun and educational activities is Melibeeglobal's secondary focus - I can help plan everything from cooking classes to theatre events.  I have a large network of friends and colleagues all over the world that provide the gaps for me - and it becomes a great learning experience for everyone involved.

So, check www.melibeeglobal.com in a few weeks - when the site is a bit more extensive. Meanwhile, if you have any questions, comments, ideas or good jokes - drop me a line!

The Universe Will Provide

Posted on Jan 28th, 2007 by Missy : melibee Missy
I had lunch with a colleague from work recently .... she is someone who I don't know well, but has always sent kind emails of support to me over the years. During our lunch she told me about her childhood in poverty in NYC, how she begged for food on the streets, , and how she went on to receive a Masters in Social Work and help thousands of people with their most basic needs. She was encouraging me to take care of my health (I was exposed to very dangerous molds that have left some permanent damage) and she reminded me that the Universe will provide.
This past week, despite the ongoing horrors of the impact of exposure to mold on my poor, beaten down body....the universe did provide. While I won't go into details, I know that my innocent lunch with a colleague was just what I needed to remind me to leave it to some higher power. Sometimes the best control that we have in life is to stop trying to control an outcome that can't be influenced by our mere desire. The universe provided as soon as I let it all go. One can call that power whatever we choose or whatever our upbringing has led us to believe....but for me, someone is making sure a guardian angel is close by, particularly when it seems like I'm up against a wall.
I've been reading Gandhi's autobiography and am fascinated by his search for the truth. I have tried to approach my life as a truth seeker, despite daily temptations to buy into the hype that we see around us 24.7. At the end of the day, all we have is our own integrity and truth as we know it. I will keep searching, growing and absorbing all that I learn from the universe.
I'm thankful for the reminder and for the peace of mind that came with it.
What experiences have you had with truth and the universe providing?
